Beauty of Bump Maps

Bump mapping is a technique in computer graphics for simulating bumps and wrinkles on the surface of an object.

This techniques I have used for my Rendered wallpaper in 4K resolution / Ultra high definition resolution for you:

Do not forget: with PTC Creo Parametric Bump maps are now realistically displayed in the graphics areas. More information  find here: PTC Creo Parametric 3.0 - Rendering Enhancements.

You'll be able to get your hands on the iPhone 6 on September 19th in the UK. That's the same date as the US, so there's no waiting around for a delayed UK release. You'll be able to get iOS 8 for any existing devices, on 17th September. (source)

Computer specs for rendered animation

Hello all

We have recently made a 5 minutes animation in WF4. We could not render the model because the computer was not good enough. We have liked the results and pland to do more animations in the future, maybe with Creo/Illustration (which we don't own yet).

We currently use S20 Lenovo Thinkstations, with 8 GB RAM, Windows 7 and NVDIA 2000

What are the computer specifications we should get? What is most important? RAM, Graphics card?

Best regards

Daniel García

Appearance library - automatic bump, color texture and decal "load"

Hello all,

this question is about automatic "load" of bump, texture and decal when appearance is applied. l made a order in my appearances library and AFTERWARDS l discovered that, there is some system in appearances and relevant bump, color texture and decals. Because my stopped work after renaming and global_appearance_file config change.

Bump_automatic_load.jpg

QUESTION: What system does it wotk?

IDEA 1: "File name system"

- files with little different names --- all saved in one directory (global_appearance_file)

     - color name     - adv_steel_galvanized

     - bump name    - adv_steel_galvanized_bump

     - texture name - adv_steel_galvanized_texture

     - decal_name  - adv_steel_galvanized_decal

IDEA 2: "Hard save when it´s done"

- create an appearance and apply bump, texture or decal.

- than save it (don´t care about files name ---> appearnce adv_steel_galvanized include a bumb with file name scratch)

IDEA 3: "Other solution"

- do you have any other praxis or idea ?

I hope here is many render profi guys and somebody can help.

This question is targeted to Vladimir Palfy a big fan of renders and unofficial PTC community render guru... best regards

Thanks for any ideas

Animated GIF secrets (?)

What is the secret to making an animated GIF "seamless"?

I trim out the last frame when capturing a mechanism sequence but when I convert it to a GIF, it is always jerky at the repeat transition.

Is anyone able to reliably get a smooth continuous GIF? . ..and how do you accomplish this?

I am creating a ProTOOLKIT plugin for Parametric in which I need to render my own graphics - superimposed on the part model in 3D. Is it possible to use OpenGL to do so? Whats the recommended way to render custom graphics? I didn't find any topic regarding this in the ProTOOLKIT documentation.

Thanks!
