Animated GIF secrets (?)

What is the secret to making an animated GIF "seamless"?

I trim out the last frame when capturing a mechanism sequence but when I convert it to a GIF, it is always jerky at the repeat transition.

Is anyone able to reliably get a smooth continuous GIF? . ..and how do you accomplish this?

I am using Creo 2.0 Parametrics. I have part with several curves that I would like to change to different colors. All I see is how to change the whole part color not indivual feature or surfaces. Can someone help?

Thanks,

Mike

How well does Creo play with others (i.e. Export/Import issues)

I've been working with Pro-E since the bad old days when it could only be run on machines with RISC chips or on Unix systems. So I know Pro-E. Now I'm just getting used to Creo, and frankly, I like it.

But, waaaay back, it ancient times, long before PTC even offered any rendering functionality, Pro-E simply couldn't be used with 3rd party rendering sofware at all. Technically, at the time, you could supposedly out put IGES files that could then be rendered in 3rd party rendering programs, but in practice it never worked. You wound up with something that looked vaugely like a 3d wireframe - but with fur. The "fur" being countless lines that ran off to infinity in length. so unless you were heavily into 70's Funk, and a world coverd in shag carpeting, the IGES output from Pro-E was less than useful.

Fast Forward to today.

Lately I've been playing around with designing my own game spaces, which can be fun. BUT!

With nearly every piece of software out there for turning 3d wireframes into usable game spaces there's a bit of a problem.

All of them assume that you created you're original wireframes in Auto-***-wind-cad (aka Autodesk's Autocad).

I DISPISE working in Autocad. It's like pulling weeds by hand. It's slow and tedious work.

So I was considering purchasing Creo for students ('cause my boss would hang me for playing with pet projects at work on his dime, not that I can blame him).

That way I could play around to my hearts content at home creating basic wireframes in Creo instead of Autobelch, that I'd then export to various 3rd party programs to create my little gamespaces and eventually games.

Does anyone in here have a similar hobby? (creating games from scratch?)

Has anyone in here ever tried exporting files from Creo to 3rd party rendering or gaming software?

Any advice? Experiences? Probelms?

Rendering Issues in Creo Parametric 2.0

Whenever I try to render a part using Photolux as my renderer I only recieve black screens as my outputs. This problem doesn't extend to photorender as I have been able to get complete renders from it. I've tried to search the Creo Discussions to find any other people experiencing my problem. This was the closest I found: http://communities.ptc.com/thread/36658 . Though this solution couldn't work for me considering I dont have McAfee installed, though I have checked Creo's permissions inside my antivirus and firewall. No luck so far. Here's what a render window looks like on output Render Output.png

The same black screen pops up using render reigon as well, and one thing I've noticed is that in rendering videos a "particle like" effect ensues as the images is rendered and refined, that doesnt happen for me when using the full render window and region renders. I've also tried photo outputs as well and have no success there either.

The fact that I recieve an output with watermark is interesting but it is still all black other than that. I've toggled scenes, rooms, lights, and effects and had a consistent black output. Any help would be appreciated.

creo 1.0 crashing while trying to render an animation

Creo 1.0 M040 build.  My system is a Lenovo W510 workstation laptop with a Nvidia Quadro FX 880M running driver 9.18.13.3165.  I just upgraded to 8Gb of ram because the first time I attempted this I received a message that there was not enough system memory,  I was previously running on 4 gb.

The model can be rendered as a still photo and the animation can be created but when I attempt to render the animation as an MPEG it fails.  Creo just closes like it wasnt even there.  When I go to file manager and open the "rendered animation"  I get a frame or two that look great but that is it.  Any ideas as to what is going on.

Creo Manikin Vision for Mirrors

Hello All,

I been using Creo Manikin to simulate vision in and around an operator environment, such as looking out the window of a truck to see what part of the surroundings are obscured by parts of the vehicle.  I would really like to be able to use the manikin vision window to "see" what is in the mirrors that are placed both inside and outside of the vehicle.  With just the basic rendering package that comes with Creo, I have tried to apply a 100% reflection to the mirror's surface and render the manikin vision window, but so far all I can get for output is a solid dark image.  Rendering normally, outside the manikin vision window, seems to work, but this is not from the manikin's viewpoint.  Anyone have any experience with this, or suggestions?  Thanks in advance...

(btw: I did review the mirror analysis presentation that was on the PTC site, which shows the area on the ground covered by the mirror, but while quite helpful is not exactly what I am looking for...)

Animation - how too?

This seems a good a place as any to open a discussion on Animation.

I have core Creo and learned a bit about animation control.

I have since learned a lot of the limitations to creating animations.

I'd like to see some of your creations.  Also know who has a solid handle on this function.

I did a little fabrication sequence of a small aluminum sqill'd stem for a bike mirror.

These are things I learned rather quickly in making this video:

  • Animation is not available in Part mode.  Only Assembly mode.
  • Perspective views are very difficult to manage and cause strange behavior in view interpolations.
  • Transparency interpolations ignores surface appearance assignments.
    • Assembly surface appearance do not display transparency
    • Part surface appearance is removed.
  • You cannot apply Style to patterned parts and expect them work.
  • Animating part fabrication is not the primary purpose of this application.
  • I haven't found a way to activate a section in the sequence.
